About Me

I have always loved computers.

As long as I knew what they were, I wanted one. I grew up in an era when that was incredibly expensive and not something most people had at home.

The first I remember actually getting to play with one was in First Grade. The library had several Commodore PET computers. My dad purchased a used Apple ][ (with a RAM upgrade!) a couple years later, but I really wanted my own. I saved up enough to buy a TRS-80 Color Computer and learned a harsh lesson about technology when the vastly superior Commodore 64 came out about a year later.

I did end up using that Apple ][ through most of High School. I wish I still had it.

I don’t have any kind of technological degree though I have a Masters in Elementary Education. I was always just “the guy who was good with computers.” That eventually led me to becoming a Systems Administrator, a job I’m not sure I could get today without some Microsoft certifications or Engineering degree.

I worked for many different companies, most of which no longer exist, in a range of technical capacities, but I went freelance in 2007.

Since then, I’ve worked with a wide range of professionals and individuals. I am the in the business of solving my client’s internet and technology problems. If I don’t know how to fix it, I’ll find you someone who can or teach myself what I need to know.

One of my biggest strengths is communicating with my clients about complex technological issues in a way that makes sense to them. Some people want the entire story with every piece meticulously explained, and others just want me to tell them the thing is fixed. I do those and everything in between.

That’s my pitch.

I don’t feel like I have to say much more because my business has always been referral based. If you’re looking at this site, you’ve almost definitely been sent here by one of my clients or associates. Since you trust them, I’m hoping you will trust me, too, but I will work hard to earn it.

About This Site

This site is running in WordPress with the current default WordPress theme, Twenty Twenty-Five. Twenty Twenty-Five has a number of Templates, different page layouts, colors and designs that all work together. To show that off, I’ve selected a different one for each page.

You’ll notice that in my Services, it does not mention Website Design. I do the “back-end” stuff (security, image optimization, etc.), not the design part. So I just took the most recent default template and dropped my content in, taking advantage of someone else’s design. The last time I did that was with the Twenty Fifteen theme and it lasted until now. I could still use it if I wanted to.

WordPress is just one of many platforms, but the fact that it is Open Source means it is free to use and has created a dedicated legion of people working on and supporting it. It’s a great piece of software which is believed to be behind 43% of all websites globally and 23% of the top 1 Million sites (as of typing this).

By comparison, Squarespace accounts for 3.2% and 0.61% respectively.
